Our Vision

Our Vision is a world where AIDS Competence spreads more quickly than the virus.

In an AIDS Competent society, we as people in families, in communities, in organisations, and in policy making act from strength:

to acknowledge the reality of HIV and AIDS,
to build our capacity to respond,
to reduce our vulnerability to risk,
to allow everyone to live out their full potential, and
to share our experience with others

How it all started
We have become increasingly restless with the idea that programs which provide a mix of technology and money would be enough to solve the issue of HIV/AIDS.

We believe in the capacity of people to respond to threats such as HIV/AIDS. We base this conviction on FACTS. The successes of communities that have made progress are our inspiration.

Structure
The Constellation for AIDS Competence is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated in Belgium in April 2005 with a secretariat office in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Our Mission
Our mission is to stimulate and to connect local responses to HIV/AIDS around the world.
For any network or organisation, the Constellation proposes to stimulate the development of a Facilitation Team. This Facilitation Team:

builds on the strength of the community with which the network or organisation works
works as a SALT Team
offers a set of tools for these communities to develop towards AIDS Competence

The coaches of the Constellation (see below) choose field practice over workshops and conversations over presentations.

Who we are
We don't see ourselves as experts. Our starting point is that we are all human. We are happy to learn from every community. We realize that the experience transforms us for the better.
There is an expanding number of active members called coaches, who support communities on their journey towards AIDS Competence.
