More details on Facilitation Teams

New partnership with GLIA (1 May 2007) The Constellation has been invited by the Great Lakes Initiative on AIDS (GLIA) for further contract negotiations to implement the AIDS Competence Process in Tanzania, Kenya, RD-Congo, Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi over two years. The Constellation proposes the development in each country of a network facilitation team or SALT Team and of one GLIA core facilitation team. The SALT team would be composed of at least 6 members coming from the networks of PLWHA and of long haul transporters. Their role would consist in stimulating and connecting responses to HIV/AIDS by communities belonging to their networks. A participating organisation would serve as secretariat to the team. The Constellation proposes the development of a GLIA core facilitation team which will stimulate the process within and between the GLIA countries and connect the GLIA with other groups and organisations committed to AIDS Competence. The foundation of the approach consists in the understanding and practice of the SALT methodology. Hence, every learning event will include a SALT visit, whereby participants share hopes as well as concerns, learn from each other and transfer lessons learned into their own contexts. In the course of its interaction with communities belonging to the network, the SALT team will offer specific tools that further enhance community capacity to dream, to assess, to analyse, to act, to measure, to learn and to share.
