Our Partner - The Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC) in the DR Congo

BTC is the Belgian development cooperation agency. Since cooperation with the DRC started again in 2000, BTC's portfolio of projects and programmes has continued to expand. In 2005, BTC analysed its portfolio both in terms of Belgian bilateral cooperation and in terms activities carried out for other donors. The objective was to develop a sectoral approach for its activities and to provide the DGDC with resources that would allow it to develop a more structured indicative programme after the elections in 2006.

Belgian Technical Cooperation, RDC Competence and the Constellation in RD Congo

The Constellation started a partnership with the Belgian Technical Cooperation, end 2005, in RD Congo. After a year of intensive efforts, RDC Competence, the National Facilitation Team, have achieved astonishing results:

Communities in 10 provinces (Kindu, Kisangani, Bukavu, Kinshasa, Boma, Lubumbashi, Matadi, Kikwit, Mbuji Mayi, Goma) did their self-assessment and action plan for 2007
In Kinshasa only, the SALT teams visited 92 communities, bringing support and follow-up on the action plans of all these communities
30 facilitators compose the central team called ‘RDC Competence’, stimulating and connecting local responses
The AIDS Competence Process clearly stimulates the use of voluntary testing, which raised steadily in RD-Congo.
